Christian Education is an important part of the Second Congregational Church program. A children’s sermon is delivered by the pastor before kids go to Sunday School. Children ages four and up are welcome to attend Sunday School classes during worship. We also have a nursery for any child under the age of four. When a child reaches age 13 or 14, he or she may choose to participate in a Confirmation class and become a member of the congregation.
As for adult education, the programs offered vary-from general studies, exploration of Scripture-adjacent material (such as the gnostic gospels), to guided studies from the United Church of Christ. Adult education has included in person and online opportunities. You may join a study group or ask for more information at SCCBibleStudy@aol.com.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers for child and adult education. We hope to build a meaningful faith connection throughout the lifespan. You are encouraged to visit and tour our facilities if you are interested in educational opportunities. The school year for kids runs September through June. While adult educational opportunities come throughout the year, at the discretion of the pastor and lay leaders.
